Yaeko Kaneko, 80, of Kealakekua died Feb. 9 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Glenwood, she was a public school teacher and member of Kona Honwanji Mission, Bank Kumiai, Yano Hall Senior Citizens, Hawaii State Teacher’s Association Union, Hawaii Education Association, Fukuoka Kenjin Kai, Teacher’s Mixed Bowling League, Park and Recreation Senior’s Bowling League. Services held. Survived by husband, Mike Kaneko of Kealakekua; daughters, Leanne (Dennis) Amano of Yorba Linda, Calif., Kristine (David Bixler) Kaneko of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; brothers, Hiroshi Nozawa of Glenwood, Toshiaki (Alice) Nozawa of Fullerton, Calif., and Hideo Nozawa of Honolulu; sister, Haruko (Tatsuo) Matsuzaki of Hilo; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Jane Kumiko Kawachi, 68, of Hilo died March 15 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired branch manager for Bank of Hawaii KTA Branch, and also worked for Hilo Hongwanji and Edward Jones Investments and was a member of Zonta Club of Hilo, Higashi Hongwanji, Fukuoka Kenjinkai, Mauka Kaumana Kumiai, Business Education Partnership, Junior Achievement and Japanese Chamber of Commerce. Haruyo Kitagawa, 100, of Hakalau, died March 3 at Life Care Center in Hilo. Born in Hakalau, she retired as a homemaker. She was a member of Pepeekeo Senior Center and Honomu Henjoji Mission. Carmen Joanel Lacro, 49, of Pahala and formerly of Naalehu died at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center in Phoenix, Ariz., on Tuesday, March 6. Born in Pahala, she was a credit and collections clerk with the Hilo Medical Center. She was also a member of the Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
